The Apollo Streams' Jr Broadcasting Program is a groundbreaking initiative designed to empower and educate high school and college-aged students in the art of sports broadcasting. Led by Alema Harrington and Mike Smith—former college football and NBA players, multi-Emmy Award-winning broadcasters, and current TV hosts for the Utah Jazz—the program promises to provide aspiring young broadcasters with invaluable insights and guidance from some of the industry's most seasoned professionals. With experience covering prestigious events such as the NBA Finals, the Olympics, and the NFL, these guys bring unparalleled expertise and knowledge to the program, ensuring a comprehensive and enriching learning experience.

The program's primary focus will be on teaching students how to film and provide insightful commentary for sporting events. Participants will have the opportunity to learn various aspects of sports broadcasting, including camera work, on-air presentation, play-by-play, color commentary, post-game analysis and more. With Mike and Alema’s extensive experience both as players and as commentators, students will gain firsthand knowledge of the intricacies of the game, enriching their broadcasting skills with unique perspectives. They’ll also involve other seasoned professionals, ensuring that students receive diverse and comprehensive mentorship, exposing them to different styles and approaches in sports broadcasting. These guest broadcasters will not only share their expertise but also offer valuable networking opportunities and potential pathways for future broadcasting careers.

As an internship-style program, Apollo Streams' Jr Broadcasting initiative offers a hands-on and immersive learning experience for youth all over the country. Students will have the opportunity to interact with professionals, gaining practical skills and building their portfolios through the filming of LIVE sporting events. This unique opportunity will not only bolster their broadcasting abilities but also equip them with the confidence and professionalism required for a successful career in sports journalism.

Any high school or college can participate in the Jr Broadcasting Program. Each "Team" of broadcasters will need to ensure they have at least a camera (iPad, iPhone or HDMI camera) an iPad running Apollo Streams to control the system and a commentator for each game. Each team will need internet access via wired, WiFi or a decent mobile hotspot connection with an upload speed 5 MBPS or more. Approved Jr Broadcasting teams will be allowed to participate in the Ad Sharing Revenue portion of our program as well. We monitor the viewership of the live streams and charge local, state and national sponsors based upon viewers seeing their ads. You and your sports team will be able to participate in that ad revenue. Your live streams will also be displayed on our JBN App where players, fans and scouts can watch your games, see, like and download your highlights!
