Apollo Streams Setup Guide
Go from opening the app to live in a few minutes. Nothing goes live until you tap Start.
What you need
- A camera. Use an iPhone, the iPad camera, or any camera with an HDMI output. You do not have to use an iPhone. For an HDMI camera, you also need a USB-C HDMI capture adapter.
- An iPad running a recent version of iOS. This is your control center.
- The Apollo Streams Capture app, installed on your iPad and on any iPhones you will use as cameras.
- An Apollo Streams account and plan.
- Internet. Wifi, a hotspot, or a cell data plan all work.
- A tripod or gimbal to keep the shot steady. BallHawk adds hands-free AI tracking.
If you use iPhones as cameras, the iPhones and the iPad must be on the same network.
Step by step
Log in
Open the Apollo Streams Capture app on your iPad and log in with your Apollo Streams account.
Add your camera
Tap Add Camera. You have three options:
- An iPhone running the Apollo Streams Capture app on the same network. It appears on your iPad screen. Tap it to activate.
- The iPad's own camera.
- Any camera with an HDMI output. Connect it to the iPad with a USB-C HDMI capture adapter, then add it as your iPad camera.
You can add more cameras anytime.
Choose your sport
Pick the sport you are filming so the right scoreboard loads.
Set up your scoreboard
Enter team names, levels, and colors. Then choose how the scoreboard updates during the game:
- Manual. Update the score by tapping buttons.
- AI Camera. Scores update automatically.
- Scorebird device. Connects directly to the scoreboard.
Tap Save. You can change any of this during the game.
Set up your live stream
Choose YouTube or Facebook and log in. Enter a title, a description, and pick your streaming resolution. Higher resolutions need a stronger connection. Tap Save.
First time streaming to YouTube? Enable live streaming on your YouTube account ahead of time. YouTube approval can take up to 24 hours, so do not wait until game day.
Go live
Tap Start when you are ready. Use Live plus Rec to save a recording while you stream. You can also switch to Record Only or Live Only. Nothing goes live until you tap Start.
During the game
Tap Capture Highlight the moment something great happens. You can set how far back the highlight starts and adjust the speed later. Use Play Sponsor Content during breaks.
Keep your eyes on the iPad screen. What you see is what your audience sees.
